| About Us |
San Francisco Stained Glass Works was founded in 1971 by George F. O"Brien and Paul R. Broder at 3463 16th Street in San Francisco. In 1985 the studio moved to 345 Divisadero Street, where it remained until November 2006 when the studio was moved to it's current location at 1246 Howard Street.
San Francisco Stained Glass Works has grown to become the Bay Area's premier Stained Glass, Fused Glass and Kiln Casted Glass Studio. During the past few years, this studio was not only commissioned by hundreds of families to create and restore windows for their homes, but also created windows for movie sets, including Mrs. Doubtfire, Horsewhisperer , Nine Months as well as the remake of Lolita.
In January of 2004 the studio was purchased by David R. Forte. David intends to build onto the long tradition of producing a high quality product, original designs, and a commitment to excellence. The history of San Francisco Stained Glass Works would not be complete without mentioning it's current and past employees who have played an integral part in its success.
In keeping with our studio's tradition of participation in the San Francisco Community, we donated one of the three windows that we were commissioned for the Chenery House, the future official residence of the Mayor of San Francisco.
Aside from doing major commission work, restoration and repair for homes in San Francisco, we also offer classes in Stained Glass and Fused Glass to the public. We have been giving classes since 1971 and have taught thousands of people the craft of creating leaded glass windows. Many of our students have continued their enrollment for years and have produced many advanced and technically complex projects. We work to ensure that our students enjoy the creative process and experience satisfaction that results from producing original glass art.
